Luck of the Irish

My name is being circulated around. My sister and friends are helping me find children to watch. I made up some flyers for my sister to pass out at her church. She also knows a teacher who has two little children who doesn't like the day care her kids are at. Joette's sister knows someone who needs childcare and promptly gave my number. I feel like this is going to work out. I can't wait for Spring and I can't wait for my house to be filled with pitter patter or litte feet again!

  1. Sounds like everything is falling into place. Do you have to do any special licensing or insurance?
    Have a great day!

  2. Hi Tami, You may already be on top of this, but please be certain that you research any State regulations required for child care providers so that you are in compliance... you may need insurance, a license or certification in some skill, special equipment and/or training, etc.

  4. Awesome! Glad you got it all covered!! PS Ron's late wife used to do child care in her home. She had an interesting provision in her contract with the parents regarding pick up times.

If the parent was late once, they just got a gentle reminder. Consistently late, $$ was added to the fee. If even more late pickups (3+ late pickups), the child was ousted from her day care!!!

  5. If I hadn't moved, I'd be able to stuff your play room and bookshelves full and still have too many toys in my house! Good luck with everything!

  6. Good luck Tami. I think you are ready for this change and that it comes at a good time in your life. Just make sure you wash your hands constantly. Last year I was teaching a high amount of 3 and 4 year-olds, I swear I was sick the entire season!

  7. Ina, I used to watch children years ago when my boys were smaller. I looked into the regulations then. Also I am working closely with a friend who runs a preschool program at our church. So this time, I am so much more prepared. You gave good tips! I had one parent who bounced a check on me and had to tell her "cash only". So you live and learn!
