Zacharys Boo-Boo

Friday night began with a night out to the movies with two of my friends. We were celebrating Joette's birthday. When I got home at 9:30pm, Zachary was laying on the couch with a washcloth on his knee. Todd says "Honey, can you take a look at Zach. He fell outside while playing lacrosse." So I lift up the washcloth and was horrified! He had a gash in his knee with the skin scraped off and the muscle tissue visable. ICK! He also chipped his front tooth and hurt his thumb.

I didn't panic, but my adrenilin did get kicking. First I took him to Joettes house because her sister, Nikki is a nurse. I wanted to get an opinion to see if he needed stiches. Nikki works at Premier Medical Care, which is like an emergeny room if your doctors office is closed. Joette said Nikki was working, but they closed at 9pm. (It was now almost 10pm). Joette called Nikki and she got permission from the doctor to bring Zachary right in! I was so grateful! Nikki cleaned up his knee and the doctor put in 5 stiches. He got an x-ray of the thumb, but everything checked out okay.

Zach can't play lacrosse for a week, until the stiches are out. He is so bored right now, he is driving us crazy!!

  1. Oh my goodness! Good thing you have connections!

1 week down is tough but it could have been worse. Best wishes to Zach!

  2. Accck, you must have got a terrible fright when you saw it? One week isn't too long, but I guess to a young person it feels like forever...

  4. Oh ouch! Good to know things won't fall apart if you aren't around ;) I want my wee ones to enjoy athletics and take part in them, but injuries are definitely what I fear the most! I'm glad this was a relatively minor one.
