Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What can the average citizen do to honor a military veteran and/or those currently serving?
Disabled Veteran National Foundation   Is a great way to help a military veteran.  Volunteering to help a veteran is very rewarding to both the veteran and the volunteer.  Please take the time to check out their website.  Thank you!

2. Besides a flag what is something you own that is red, white and blue?
I have a collection of Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy along with many patriotic decorations throughout my house.  I love the country look that goes along with the red, white and blue.

3. Does love really conquer all?
I searched for love and didn't really know what I was looking for.  Not until I met the man who is now my husband.  In his arms I felt so safe and loved.  His love conquered all my fears, my troubled childhood and my self-loathing.  I believe that love conquers all!

4. Strawberry shortcake or blueberry pie?
Strawberries and blueberries without the shortcake of pie.  I like my berries fresh off the vine!

5. Do you share personal stuff with your hairdresser?
No, I don't.  Usual chit chat is all I do. Just because she cuts my hair, does not qualify her as a close friend.

6. Does money lead to selfishness?
I think it can lead to wanting more and more materialistic things.  I want this or I want that.  I always tell my boys "I know you WANT it, but do you NEED it?"  The response I receive is a heavy sigh and stomping feet as they walk away.

7. What piece of furniture in your home most needs replacing or refinishing?
I wish I could tear down the house and begin again!  If I had to pick ONE piece of furniture though… hmmm, it would be the wooden filing cabinet.  We bought it at staples.  Although the wood is of very good quality, the connectors are crappy and the inside has tag board. It keeps falling apart whenever you open the drawer. UGH!

8. Insert your own random here.
Looking forward to seeing Snow White and the Huntsman this weekend. The 'Huntsman" is the same guy who plays Thor in the Avengers.  Hot stuff!

  3. I am a fan of pie, but strangely not berry pie. I want to taste the berries ... which is why I chose strawberry shortcake ... when I make strawberry shortcake, I pile on the strawberries so it's strawberries with a hint of shortcake. ha!

  7. My hairdresser and I are friends so we do share....

I HATE HATE HATE strawberry shortcake! Also dislike intensely whipped cream! Since my birthday is in July my mom always had these icky cakes with whipped cream. I would tell her over and over how much I hate whipped cream but she kept on getting them. My favorite cake is chocolate cake with coconut buttercream frosting. And I could eat the entire cake myself!

I could not name just one thing to replace in my house either. I would like to redo my kitchen walls (get rid of the wallpaper) and also redo my master bedroom walls, again, get rid of the 80s wallpaper and grass cloth. That stuff will be hard to remove! xoxo
