Gillian's Wonderland Pier

When the sun sets, Gillian's Wonderland Pier is the place to be in Ocean City, NJ.
~
Two of my favorite places to stop and enjoy on the boardwalk is the Fudge Kitchen and Polish Water Ice
 Fudge is chocolate.. enough said!
I am not a fan of saltwater taffy. It's hard and sticky and doesn't really have that great of a flavor.  I don't know if saltwater taffy is something every beach has or if it's something just in our area.  Have you ever had it or know about it?
Polish water ice is a cross between custard and Rita's Water Ice.
You will get a brain freeze if you eat it too fast!
In my opinion, it is THE best water ice!
 My family would agree.
What beach vacation wouldn't be complete without tacky boardwalk mini-golf?
Todd is behind the octopus. (Reminds me of 'Where's Waldo?')
Brandon has been taking golf lessons at home.
He thought this golf course would be a piece of cake.
Guess who beat him??

The pier is filled with games and rides that is jammed packed with excited kids and broke parents, who are suckers and bought too many overpriced tickets.
My favorite is the spinning bears.  It's like Tilt-a-whirl… but FASTER! WEEEE!
Girls enjoyed it… Brandon did not…
I am afraid of heights, so I just look and admire how pretty the ferris wheel is.
I was impressed that Brandon rode on quite a few rides with my 3 year old nephew.
(If the video doesn't workYou may have to have Instagram to view it).

My nephew was tuckered out from all the fun. =)
I don't know how he slept like that without getting a crick in the neck?!

  1. Over priced for sure! But worth it for the kids.

  2. I've never been to an official boardwalk. It looks like a lot of fun, like a constant carnival. Yummy, I'd go for the fudge too. I've heard of saltwater taffy but never had it, I don't think. I've had taffy but I'm guessing it's different? I've also never heard of water ice. I'm wondering if it's something like a slushie or Snow Cone, only mixed with custard. Interesting...I'll have to look these things up. Isn't it funny how kids can sleep in the weirdest positions? One of my sons can fall asleep anywhere if he's tired and sometimes in the weirdest positions. Have a great week!

  3. I've been vacationing at the jersey shore for over 20 years. Sometimes I forget the things I enjoy, other people have never heard of, seen or tasted. Do you have a Rita's Water Ice around you? They are very popular here. Some people call it Italian Ice. I suppose it's similar to a slushy, but OH so MUCH better! Saltwater Taffy is similar to taffy. It comes in different flavors and colors. It's no fun to eat if you have braces. ;-)
    Have a good week too!

  4. fudge.....fudge.... oh gosh. you said so many great things and I am sure I saw my favourite spinning ride....but I honestly just want to see the fudge. haha
We have a fudge shop just down the road. best in the province hands down. And I do live on the Ottawa River -- but not in the city, so there is no boardwalk out here. but downtown Ottawa of course we have the canal (you know, when it freezes in winter, we skate on it. worlds' longest skating rink. google it.) and there is lots of stuff to do there. but not rides like USA has. I'd love to visit a real authentic American boardwalk. would be so cool.

  5. We saw a lot of saltwater taffy when we were in the Outer Banks last fall. But when I think of saltwater taffy, I think of NJ. ;-)

I've never heard of water ice ... guess I need to go Google that and see just what it is. ;-)

  6. No, I don't think we have Rita's Water Ice around here. I've never heard the term Water Ice before. But I have heard Italian Ice. :-)

  7. The only place around here to get saltwater taffy that I know is the state fair that comes every year in October. Not a favorite of mine, though.
Looks like a great time was had by all....that last pic says it all :-)

Yes I have tried salt water Taffy (and other flavours) on our trips to America and I have to be honest, it's awful :(

    That is my opinion though...

  14. I'd love to live near a frozen pond. Brandon would be on it all day long playing hockey.
Come visit me and we can go to the boardwalk AND go on the spinning rides!
