Daniel Boone Homestead

The Daniel Boone Homestead is about 15 minutes from our home. Our local high school is named after Daniel Boone. Mr. Boone was a legend in his own lifetime, an explorer and hunter whose exploits made him one of the most famous frontiersman in American history. He was born in rural Pennsylvania, but moved to the North Carolina frontier around 1750. The elementary school children take a trip to the homestead in 5th grade. A few times a year they have reenactments. It is fascinating to see how people lived hundreds of years ago. Brandon learned how they had to make soup out of nuts during the winter when food was scarce.

3 pretty purplexing comments:

  1. So cool to live near such historical places and things great for the kids.

  2. Makes you think how we take our conveniences for granted. Nice picture of Daniel Boone's homestead. He had a nice house!
