Litter Bug!

Sunday was Earth day.
It isn't as hard as you think to explain litter to 2 & 3 year olds.
I placed crumbled pieces of newspaper through out the room and they went around picking up the trash.   Then we took some of the crumpled newspaper and made 'litter bugs'.

We talked about keeping things clean so that we can keep the Earth happy.
The Earth was a hard concept for them to grasp, so I talked more about things they would understand, such as playgrounds and oceans at the beach.

We ended by singing a fun, catchy song about no more litter.

5 pretty purplexing comments:

  1. Kudos to teaching your kids, we took our kids to clean the beach when they were young, and sang the clean up song!

  2. You did your part to start youngsters on the right path. GOOD for you. GREAT for them. take care.

  3. Such a great activity to teach the little ones....I always love the clean up song from Barney! Sometimes I can get Sophie to put her own toys in her basket! lol! Its rare!

  4. that is awesome that you are teaching them at a young age. I did that with my crew and not they ASK to go pick up trash. and not just on Earth day either.
we got a pretty good haul from the park across the street this year.
