Wedding Brawl in City of Brotherly Love

We've all heard of the Hatfield and McCoys, but this wedding brawl takes the cake! It was a fiasco that can only be a bride's worst nightmare!

According to one news report two brothers from the 'Hatfield' wedding party got into an argument and threw an object that hit someone from the 'McCoy' wedding party.

The fight got so bad that police from all over the city responded.  A bride's Uncle died of a fatal heart attack, one man was subdued by a stun gun and a number of people were arrested by police.

Here is a video clip taken by a 15 year old boy who was at the hotel celebrating his birthday.  It was shot from the balcony above the lobby, shows police officers with batons attempting to control the crowd.  At one point, it appears one of the brides becomes detained by officers. You can hear screams of panic throughout the entire clip.

At one point you hear the video recorder say "Did they just deck the bride?"
One would never think to hear that at a wedding!

What a shame that these two wedding days will forever be tainted by drunken idiots!

The news stations here in Philly are in a frenzy talking about excessive force used by police and rumors that the brides will sue the hotel.  WHAT?

ps. just for the record, the wedding parties were neither Hatfield nor McCoys.  They just acted like it.

7 pretty purplexing comments:

  1. just when you think you've seen everything...

there is always an idiot somewhere to start something

  2. I think it may have been a mistake to have an open bar at that wedding! What memories they will have.......it the wedding survives the reception!

    1. From what I read, the bar was separate from the wedding reception. Their is a lounge in the hotel and that is where the 'disturbance' happened.

  3. That is one of the craziest things I have seen in a long time! It was a mob scene!

  4. Adults acting badly. I heard the heart attack might not be related to the brawl but I don't trust the news media to get it right. I know there have been bar brawls since the first bar was ever created and I imagine a few might have occurred at weddings. Not to justify this bad behavior but if it were not for social media, internet connectivity, and easy digital video recording most of us would have never known about this. Just wondering - do you think the video recording of everything is getting out of control?
