Hydrangeas

Hydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers.  I love how they bloom a variety of different colors.
The first two years, bushes didn't bloom at all.  I thought I had dysfunctional hydrangea's.
I've seen many bushes full of blooms in other peoples yards and have often wondered how they did it.
Last year - AHA! - I had a bunch of blooms!
I can't wait to see how many I get this spring!!

TGIF

HEATWAVE
This week our area has been in a god awful heatwave.  It is days like these that I wish we had a pool.  The kids and I have to settle for the kiddie pool and sprinkler.
That goes for Teddy too.

4TH OF JULY
Our local town did not have fireworks this year, due to lack of funds.
That's sad.
As far back as I can remember there were always fireworks.
It didn't stop us from having fun.
Our family got together with my BFFs family and the boys set off their own fireworks.

THINGS IN MY BACKYARD
Baby Robins in a bush next to my deck.
My black lab, Ellie found them and would not leave them alone.
Mama and Papa Robins were doing nose dives at Ellie.
 Hydrangea Bush
(of course it's purple)
The last I counted there were six frogs in my pond.
(do you see the little one under the lilly pad)

MY MOMMOM
It was nice visiting my grandmother.
She lives in an assisted living home about an hour away, so I don't get to see her often.

THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY SON
He sent me a text saying: "I like poop".

Chanticleer Gardens

Located in the Main Line of Pennsylvania.
During the early 20th century upper class society would move to the country to beat the heat from Philadelphia, PA.  This ruin is a picture of a former summer home to the Rosengarten family.  This wealthy pharmaceutical family sold their business to Merck and Company in the 1920's.
The estate has beautiful gardens and is open to the public to enjoy.

Garden Helpers

This week I've been planting new flowers around our patio.
My favorite flowers are Star Gazer Lily's and Cone Flowers.
The Star Gazers were our wedding flowers (they haven't bloomed yet).
Cone Flower

I also like any other flower that is purple.
While trying to plant some new flowers I ran into a problem.
The roots from our birch tree was in the way of where I wanted the flowers to go.
So I asked my doggies to help!

For that extra garden help call Ellie and Teddy Excavators!

Sample of finished work.

Head over the Mrs 4s at Half-past kissin' time to see how everyone's else's week was!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

TGIF

***My youngest son is participating in a hockey clinic this weekend.  He is excited because he gets to teach younger hockey kids techniques and other related hockey stuff that he says I do not understand.  What do I know, right? I'm just a hockey mom.  ;-)

***Same son was at hockey lessons. He went to undress in the locker room.  To his dismay there was a mom in there putting on her very young son's hockey gear.  I was wondering what was taking my son so long to change.  He came out with the top gear off but bottoms still on.
I asked "What are you doing?"
"There is this lady in there with kids and I can't change?"
"Why?" I ask.
  "I have no underwear on."

***Last weekend hubby made me two raised garden boxes.  I finally planted lettuce seeds.  About a month late than recommended.  When I do plant early the lettuce grows before the tomatoes and peppers.  So what the point if you can't enjoy a salad without other veggies?

***Anyone know how to get those pesky bugs off the front of the car?  I went to the car wash and used a high pressure sprayer.  It looks better, but still yucky.

Happy Weekend!!!

My garden

These are pictures of my garden. Recently we had a bad wind storm. There were trees with the roots knocked down. An awesome display of what mother nature can do. The four rows of corn I planted was blown over. I tried replanting, but I dont know if it will take. In the meantime, I picked snap peas and had them with dinner; made a salad with lettuce and green peppers. So yummy! I am beginning to see the zucchini bud and tomatoes will turn red soon. I also planted string beans, peas, cucumbers, basil, spinach and celery.
