Mr. Boone

Our local high school is named after the explorer, Daniel Boone. You know, the guy with the coone skin cap. Daniel Boone grew up as a child in this area until he was older and moved to the Tennessee region. We have a homestead that you can go visit the house Daniel Boone lived in. The elementery schools always have field trips there.

My nephew, Kyle is a senior at Daniel Boone High School. He got to compete in a pageant called "Mr. Boone". It is similar to a beauty pageant, expcept with guys - and ALOT funnier!
There were about 15 guys who tried out. They put on dance routines and skits. Very impressive to see a bunch of teenage boys pull it off!
Kyles talent was pretending to sing to an Annie song while going thru a flip chart with hilarious sayings! This particular sign said "This pageant is SO RAVEN". One said "Does this dress make me look fat?"

For the swim suit competition, Kyle wore "Sponge Bob".
Kyle looked really handsome in his formal wear. All the guys had to answer a question that the girls presented.
Unfortunately Kyle didn't win, but we all had a great time watching him. If you knew Kyle two years ago you would not have thought he would ever do something like this. He was so shy. Now he is class President and a very outgoing, confident young man. I'm so proud of my nephew!

5 pretty purplexing comments:

  1. Sounds like it was a lot of fun!

    Congrats to Kyle for participating!

  2. And now he is fully prepared to participate in next year's Talkeetna (Alaska) Bachelor Auction! hehehehe :)

  3. Oh that's hilarious. I love it! It's neat how they completely have fun with it without (apparently anyway) being too over the top. So what does the winner win?

  4. OH! Forgot to tell you! The winner got $250 and a coon skin hat as the crown! LOL

  5. What a fun night! That takes a lot of courage - especially for a teenage boy. I used to watch Daniel Boone all the time on TV when I was a kid. Nice to know some things were actually about real people lol...... I nearly spat out my cuppa at the screen when I read about the coon hat, (it's a derogatory term for indigenous Australians), and then I realized you meant racoon lol.......
