WWII Weekend

A World War II Weekend Event was held in my city. A reenactment of a battle was realistic and amazing to watch.  There were bullets flying (blanks of course), soldiers dying (well, just laying there) and the Germans were defeated.
An air show of the planes from that era flew up into the sky with all the oohs and aahs of the crowd watching on.
My friend, Heather asked me to translate the meaning on the plane thinking that it was a german word.
It isn't german.  Can you make out the name?
Re-enactors portrayed the soldiers and women who served our country.  Men who served in WWII were also there, humble and yet proud.  It was an honor to meet them.  You could ask them any question you wanted and were not disappointed with the information you received.
I loved to learn about American History.  This event was right up my alley.  Take a look at the slide show for more pictures.  Thank you for taking a view of my city! Enjoy!

  9. I love air shows and I've been fortunate enough to have seen a number of them. The P-51 Mustang is a favorite plane and I think that nose looks like a P-51.
This sounds a little weird but one thing I miss from my Air Force time is the smell of burnt jet fuel. Great background music on your slideshow - I subscribed to your youtube page.

    Now - quit your bitchin

As a former history major, WWII and the period leading up to it were my favorite topics.

    1. I like the earlier time period with the Revolutionary and Civil War. But I still find WWII a very interesting topic. It's closer to my heart because of my grandfather serving in the Navy.
