TGIF

~
I was decorating our Christmas tree earlier in the week. I got the lights up, only to find out that half of them didn't work anymore.  I had to take off the lights, go to the store to purchase more and begin again.  It took two days to decorate the tree.  My boys and husband magically disappeared, but the cat stayed to help.
~
I had extra decorations that I gave to Ahren (my oldest son) and Melissa.  It is their first Christmas together.  They talked about getting a tree, but forgot about buying ornaments.  :)
~
I haven't been to the gym since… well… since Thanksgiving.  I gained back all the weight I lost. Brandon (youngest son)  kept harping until I gave in convinced me to go tonight. I feel tired and achy much better.
~
Zachary (middle son) is back in school. He is healing nicely from his surgery.  I took him to a follow up appointment where the doctor sucked out blood and crusty stuff from his nose.  Yuk!  My stomach did flip flops watching it.  Zachary was clammy and flushed.  The nurse wouldn't let us leave right away until his heart stopped racing.  Poor dude almost passed out!
~
This weekend Todd and I are Christmas shopping for the boys.  Did I ever mention that I hate crowded places.  I get very claustrophobic.  Hot tempered people shoved into stores with no room to maneuver isn't my idea of fun.  My husband thrives in the holiday shopping scene.  Me?  I'd rather shop on-line.
~
Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. Oh man do I ever remember how our cats "helped" me decorate the tree!

Girl Friend!!! I found ANOTHER way we are twins - - - I get very claustrophobic too!

Of course, my beloved family loves to CORNER me, hold a pillow over my face, etc until I come screaming and pushing up off the floor with the super-human adrenalin strength that ABJECT TERROR produces.

  3. I gained an insane amount of weight over thanksgiving too - everything that I lost. Working on losing it again - only to gain it back during Christmas. Life's a vicious circle, isn't it?

  4. Interesting a husband that thrives in the holiday shopping scene. Not me. Even the non-holiday shopping scene is awful IMHO. Weight? don't you need a scale or some device to know that? Too much bother. Hope you were able to recycle the broken Christmas lights.

  5. I have to agree with you; I would much prefer to shop online and stay out of the stores. I lose focus when surrounded by so many options in a store.
    have a restful weekend!

  6. I *NEED* to get to the gym. But I don't know that it's going to happen until after Christmas. :-(

I'm not all that claustrophobic, but I'm not a fan of busy stores/malls either. Other than a few little things that I picked up at Target (I went early in the day and it was not crowded), I did all our shopping online. ;-)

  7. Cats are always good helpers around here too!!! Anytime of year. I'm at the age now that I don't worry about weight much...what will be, will be.

  8. Shopping on-line is the best invention E V E R. Other than pepsi and hockey, of course.

  9. I end up buying more than I need too.

  10. Congrats on your guest post! And ugh, I would much rather shop online. I hate crowds -- they make my anxiety really bad. I'm glad Zachary's healing up.

  11. I went to the gym last night and I already feel 10 pounds lighter. LOL Guess I don't need a scale after all. :-)

  12. I agree ... well, except for the Pepsi part. Change that to Diet Coke, and you've got a winner! ha! ;-)

  13. Thanks! I was excited about the guest post. I'd rather sit behind my laptop, in my PJs with a nice cup of hot tea to go shopping. ;-)

  14. I am with you with the shopping online. I am glad to hear your son is doing better but I would have hurled if I saw that in the Dr. office. You are braver than I.

  15. I think Mommy's have super human genes that allow us to get through gross things when it comes to our children. ;-)

  16. I'm with you I'd rather shop online too. I suggest going the last hour the mall is open...less crowded than middle of day or first hour they are open. Glad Zachary is back to school I would pass out at any sight of blood...yuck! Happy weekend!

PS I figured out how to link! lol!

  17. When the boys were little, CH & I would take a day off from work and knock out all of the presents. We'd start out early, eat lunch out, then go home & I'd wrap the presents. Everything was done before the boys got home from school/daycare. The stores are less crowded during the week! I sympathize (or is it "empathize"?) with you on the decorating. Being the only female in the house, the decorating has always been left up to me. It gets a bit frustrating, for sure!

  18. Can't go during the day because of the wee ones I watch and the last hour they are open I am dead tired from watching wee ones all day. LOL On-line shopping wins!

  19. I run an in-home daycare. I do not like to take a day off because the parents rely on me so they can go to work. Otherwise I'd jump at the chance to take a day off!

  22. i love melissa at MaMe! :)

if i've learned anything over the years, it's to get a pre-lit tree and always plug any lights in before unraveling the mess. :)
PS thanks for all the nice comments at my place. :)

  24. We shop online too! Hubby is the one to avoid crowds, I just like great deals and free delivery ;-)

I WOULD HAVE PASSED OUT TOO!! Truly I would have.

I had to laugh out loud! Last year we also had a half lit tree so hubby swore this year we would plug everything in first, so it did indeed take 2 days to decorate the thing. Ugh!!! Oh and a few years after we got married, both our mothers gave us our childhood creation ornaments for a gift. It helped so much!!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. The thing is. I DID plug them in ahead of time and they worked!! There must have been a short somewhere. All I know is they worked before, but not after being on the tree!

  26. Our youngest built a house last year and had a tree last year, but didn't decorate.....so I've been giving him ornaments as I'm decorating my tree. We won't have any little ones for Christmas this year.....sort of sad.

  27. You're right... we're practically neighbors. You know, I avoid crowds like the plague, too, which doesn't work out so well since I'm a last minute shopper. I enjoyed your blog. Pretty purpexing is pretty cool. I'll have to visit again.

  31. I took a couple of hours and got a pretty good start to the kids presents. But man, some people have got no manners - and even less at this time of year. Some really snarky people were encountered and it made me want to go home and stay indoors till January. Bah-humbuggers!! Ha!
Glad to hear Zachary is doing better!

Off to read your guest post!

  32. Ugg.... haven't been to the gym either. I have gained the weight back that I lost prior to Thanksgiving. My clothes feel awful on me!

Did most of my shopping on line. Love it!! I do like the hustle and bustle of shopping though. It gets me in the Christmas spirit.

Thanks for visiting my blog! I am trying to get back on track.

  33. Hope you like the idea. Perhaps you can do the craft with your kids for Left-brain's parents. :)

  34. Hubby and I went shopping today and it wasn't too bad, except one store. I suppose 1 out of 5 is an okay ratio.

  35. Thanks so much for posting over at our "house"!

I love how the cat "helped" with the decorating!

I am sure your son and his girlfriend appreciated the ornaments. I remember well my first tree and how bare it was and how I was grateful for any hand-me-downs!

Shopping online is the way to go, really. I do like to shop, but I've done 80% of our shopping this year online. With so many places offering free shipping, it's a no-brainer. I was excited to get a Target Red Card this week because it offers free shipping (and it's essentially a debit card so there's no credit card guilt).
