On the Ice

Brandon #54
Valley Forge Colonials
Bantam AA

The first half of this season has been marked by a few great victories and heroic efforts in defeat.  It's been a tough season because the team is playing up two levels from last year.  To have a multiple hockey teams in the same rink can be somewhat complicated.  There are three levels: 'AA', 'A' and 'B' - 'AA' being at the top.  Because we have two teams at the same Bantam level both teams cannot be an 'A' team.  The '98 Bantams are listed at 'A'. Our '97 Bantam players must then be listed as 'AA', even if the coaches feel that the players would have a better season record at the 'A' level.

Why cant the '98s be a 'B' team you may ask?  Last year's statics come into play too.  Since both the 98's and 97's had such a fabulous record (pretty much undefeated) they cannot petition down to be a 'B' team.  It can be confusing if you don't understand the DVHL league rules.  I've been dealing with it since Brandon was 7 and I still don't get it all.

6 pretty purplexing comments:

  1. What charming photos of your son in uniform and in action on the ice. Very nice. All those teams and classifications confuse me. You're lucky you can decipher them. Is he considering becoming professional when he gets older?

  2. Brandon was born to play hockey!

  3. Brandon is a freshman in high school. He would like to play at the college level. We will see where it goes from there.

  4. He's got some solid hockey flow goin' there!

  5. Great pictures, you really shared the feeling of the ice and his skating. That's one thing I'm envious of at times...the pride and love parents feel.... "that's my son!"
